A bigger hammer may not fix the problem, but it sure can relieve a lot of stress!

A man and his dog Where do I start? The nickname? OK. For many years I have helped a friend of mine who races AS (American Sedan) class in the SCCA. On occasion I have been accused of not knowing my own strength and breaking a thing or two. Hey, I'm 6'4", I weigh 275 lbs and they just don't make wrenches like they used to. What can I say? Sorry Eric. Since I was breaking things a little more than he liked and my last name is Hammett he decided to call me Hammer. I couldn't deny the claim, so it stuck.

Eric and I have been friends for many years and have done lots of racing and lots of winning together. Personal reasons at home kind of curtailed my racing adventures and over the years Eric has started to divide his interests between racing and restoring old race cars and Corvettes. The idea of restoring something always appealed to me, but I could never figure out what I wanted to restore. As I was surfing around the web one night, I stumbled across a restored Jeep CJ 8 Scrambler and that was it. The more I thought about restoring one the more I wanted to do it.

On the following pages you will find the evolving story of the Scrambler rebuild, some of my likes and dislikes, and things I find interesting. It's quite possible you will find out more about me than you ever cared to know. As you can see, my interests are broad and varied and I have some strong opinions, especially about this GREAT country of ours. Check back from time to time as I will post updates as I discover new places, people, and things on my adventure through life.
