We live approximately 80 miles North of Galveston where the storm came ashore but were right in its path of travel. The actual “eye” of the storm tracked directly up the I45 corridor which we live about 5 miles to the west of. Considering this storm was ONLY a class 2 hurricane and we were on the “good” side (if there is anything to be called good about a storm of this ferocity) the damage it did in our area was incredible. I have been through a few tropical storms and 2 hurricanes in my 18 years here in Texas but this was by far the worst I have experienced.

Most of the pictures I have here are on or within about 20 miles of the coast. As you look at them remember this was a class 2 hurricane. I can’t even fathom the amount of damage that would have been done if this had been a class 5 storm.

I would also like you to know that I did not take these pictures; I have merely gathered from various emails I have been sent in the aftermath and assembled them on my website. If you recognize any of these pictures as yours and would like to receive credits please email me the details and I will give you proper credit. They are in no particular order and I no very little if anything about them. I have made a few comments underneath a few of them.

Please keep these people in your thoughts and if you are so motivated by the pictures consider donating to the Red Cross or similar organizations as they have done a great job helping out in the aftermath of this storm and many others.

Notice the boat underneath the billboard.

Texas Commerce Bank and its sister building across the street. I used to work in both of these frequently.

Gives new meaning to the term "flying fish".

I sat in this building just a few months ago and enjoyed a beer and the sea breeze.
